Joshua Richardson: Soca Artist & Song Writer

Song Writer: Joshua

Song Writer: Joshua

My name is Joshua Richardson and I am 21 years old. I live in Birmingham, England. My family are originally from St Kitts.

I write and sing my own songs as well as performing as an MC. For my day job I am a cleaner in a secondary school in Birmingham. I work really hard to make some money to spend on making my own songs, because music is my life.

I have been interested in music and performed from a young age. Back when I was at school, I was the lead singer in musicals. After I left school, I studied performance at college and earned a qualification.

Nowadays I perform in a pub in Birmingham once a month and I will be performing in a local club at the end of this month. I focus now on Soca music and Caribbean music. I love to dance and make people happy when performing. I love to see people happy and enjoying life, that’s why I keep my music happy and lively so everyone can dance.

I am willing to perform anywhere. I perform my own material and I am constantly writing new songs. Many thanks for listening to my story – Joshua Richardson.

Editors Comment:  What a great story! How fantastic and encouraging is it to hear of budding young Soca song writers in the UK connecting with their roots to produce original material based on their own life experiences.

Thanks to Joshua for sharing his life story. We’d love to be kept updated. Everyone at Tropical Media wishes Joshua every success in the future.

What’s your Soca story?
